Q: Do you offer prints?
A: Since we provide you with all your images as high-resolution JPEGs on DVD, you may have prints made at any lab you choose. However, if you would like to order prints through us, we would be happy to oblige. Simply order your prints online through our website by visiting your event gallery.
Q: What kind of equipment do you use?
A: We use professional Nikon digital SLRs (2 D300, D200 back-up) a variety of professional Nikkor lenes, and Nikon flash equipment.
Q: Do you shoot in Raw format?
A: We shoot your entire wedding in NEF RAW format, which is Nikon's RAW system. Using this format allows us the greatest control possible over the quality of the final image. We edit the RAW and then give you your pictures as High Resolution JPEGs on Archival Gold DVDs.
Q: How do you work? What's your style?
A: The most obvious feature of our work style is that there are two of us. This is a HUGE benefit to the coverage of your day. Further, our cameras are all time synchronized so your pictures will come back to you in chronological order. Meaning, you will be able to see what your future spouse was doing while you were getting dressed, walking down the isle, dancing with your Dad, etc.
Our photographic style is predominantly photojournalistic with accents of fine art portraiture. We spend most of our time (approximately 1/2 to 3/4) acting as the photojournalist, capturing candid moments as they unfold. Generally our favorite part of our work is when we sneak away with the couple to do a portrait session. The images produced during these sessions are described as fine art portraiture because we generally seek out some spectacular scene or lighting and place you within the scene. Sometimes we coach you, but often couples do their own thing. In fact, we welcome these sessions as intimate occassions for the couple to take a break from all the action of the day.
Q: When should we plan for photos of just the two of us?
A: As described in the previous section, we highly recommend planning for a private photo session with just the photographers and the couple. It is ideal to plan this session about an hour to 45 minutes before sunset and expect it to take about half an hour.
Q: How long do group shots take?
A: We consider group shots (aka formal portraits) to generally be necessary, unless you specify otherwise. But our goal is to make them as quick and painless, (and perhaps as fun), as possible. On average, group shots take no more than 30 minutes if everyone is present and ready.
Q: Do you have any suggestions for planning for group photos?
A: One of our primary concerns in planning our workflow for your event is figuring out the logistics of group photos.
If you are not opposed to seeing eachother before the ceremony, it is great to get the group shots done about an hour before the ceremony. Since they generally take about half an hour and this leaves time to get out of sight before guests start arriving. To help preserve the magic of the moment when the bride and groom first lay eyes on eachother, we can set up a "first meeting." A first meeting preserves the specialness of the moment the couple first see eachother and actually creates an occassion for intimacy that otherwise would not have been possible. We highly recommend it.
However, some people insist on not seeing each other until the ceremony and that's fine too. We recommend that we do the group shots as soon after the ceremony as possible before folks start slipping away, taking off ties, etc.
